Hi, I'm Emily, and I'm glad you're here!

Portrait of Emily Morris, LCSWA, online therapist in Durham, NC, therapist for anxiety, young therapist, how old is emily morris

My past clients have described my therapeutic approach as warmhearted, candid, and authentic. My goal is to provide specialized support to individuals in North Carolina dealing with the lingering effects of childhood trauma and I also deeply enjoy working with folks going through transitions in their lives like adjusting to college or trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives. I know what it's like to wake up one day with that pit in your stomach because you don't know who you are anymore. When we work together, you can anticipate a gentle yet persistent journey, peeling back layers of discomfort and conflict to pave the way forward.

And if you're looking to reconnect with your partner and rediscover the bond that may have grown taut with time, I'm here to help you find the right balance in your relationship through marriage counseling in Durham, NC. I also offer intensive couples therapy to provide you with the support you need without the stop-and-go of shorter 50-minute weekly sessions.

Whether you're in a major metro area like Raleigh or Charlotte, a midsize city like Durham, Asheville, Boone, Fayetteville, Greensboro, or Wilmington, or a rural area, my virtual therapy services are available to you.

In addition to my training and post-graduate experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Adventure and Experiential Therapy, Equine-Assisted Therapy, and health coaching, I'm currently honing my skills through clinical supervision and further training in complex trauma treatment, The Gottman Method for couples (Level 2), co-occurring depression and anxiety, treatment-resistant depression, Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, and negotiable monogamy and non-traditional relationship composition.

I graduated from Belmont University's Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program in 2017 and The University of Tennessee's Master of Science in Social Work, Evidence-Based Interpersonal Practice Emphasis (MSSW, EBIP) program in 2018. At Belmont University, I was proud to be inducted into the Phi Alpha Honor Society, recognizing students ranking in the top 35% of their class.

Outside of our sessions, you'll likely find me playing fetch with my two awesome dogs, Major and Indy, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, making my way through any given Sarah J. Maas novel, or trying (very haphazardly) to perfect the art of crafting cinnamon rolls from scratch.

I can't wait to get to know your story and your world. Reach out today for a complimentary consultation so we can schedule a time to get started!
